Furlough Friday

Due to a budget shortfall in Hawaii, government agencies have been forced into furlough Fridays to save money, including school. School has been cancelled for most Fridays for the next two years. Here is how we spent the day. Logyn loves the rock wall.

Avri overcame her fear of jumping into the deep water and enjoyed several jumps from the high dive.
Maddax tried out the diving board for the first time and he loves it! I heard a lot of again, again, again...

Logyn's baptism

Logyn was baptized last Saturday (October 24th, 2009). It was a great day for our family! Cody's parents were able to come and share the week with us. I'll post more on that later. Thanks to Grandma Cathy for the beautiful white dress.

Aloha!

We're finally settled in our new house. We've had a lot of work to do, but it's worth it!!

Maddax and Madi hard at work painting his room.

Here Cody is finishing up the final coat of Maddax's room.

Moving day!! Almost all of our things came wrapped in paper. We only had a handful of boxes. It made unpacking pretty easy...now organizing was another thing.

Here Avri and Maddax are playing in a kitchen box shortly before Chantelle took them to her house so I could get to work.

This is the front office/den. We decided to get a new red couch to put in here. A little louder than what I'd usually choose, but I really like it!!

This is the kitchen/dining room. I'm really enjoying having a bar again.

Our back yard is tiny! The kids spend most of their time in the front where there is room to play.

This is the family room. I worried about the paint color, but I kept coming back to this. I'm really happy with how this turned out.

This is Avri's room. She went with purple. This picture doesn't do it justice. It's pretty purple in there!

I was sure that Maddax would have a hard time transitioning to his big boy bed, so I made sure the toddler bed was put together. I was wrong, he's slept in his big bed every night.

The kids are so happy to have their stuff back. The girls spent most of the afternoon putting together puzzles. It's so nice to have space again!!! This is a glipse into our life in Hawaii. We're looking forward to visitors!!

We almost have a house

We were offered a house yesterday!!! I would post a picture, but Cody thought I was stalking the house too much already and he didn't think it was a good idea to stand out and take a picture. I'm settling for a post of the floor plan till I get to take a picture. The house will be vacant starting on the 11th and we can move in on the 22. We went paint shopping today, and I've been busy stressing about all the move in details. I'm ready to give up Lodge living!!

We're here, sort of

We've had a busy summer spending time with family and friends. I have many blog updates I'll have to get back to, but I'd better start with now, or I might not ever get going on this again.

We've been living in Hawaii for the last month. Our housing luck didn't work out this time around, and we've decided to wait for the house we want and live at the Navy Lodge for now We'll be here for 3-6 mo. which makes life a little interesting. Our room has 2 beds with a little kitchenette and a living room. I've been surprised at how much the Lodge feels like home. I guess it really is true that for us, home isn't a place, it's where we're together.
We've been getting back into a normal everyday routine. The girls both started school last week. They're really enjoying being back to school! I had a hard time sending them. The schools here are different! Our school doesn't have A/C and I worried about them getting too hot, and about cockroaches getting into their bags, but so far all is good.

Maddax started a kidnastics class last week. I guess that's what happens when you have two older sisters and gymnastics is the thing to do. Logyn started a tumbling class and Avri is anxiously awaiting her turn to start. She's on a waiting list.

I have lots of pictures I want to put on here, but since we don't have our stuff, I'm not sure how to do it on this computer. The only pictures that I have available our some that the Lang's emailed, so that's all for now. It's been so nice to PCS with someone we know!! They've helped us out so much!! We're looking forward to the next 3 years in paradise!
